Different types of glass for windscreens

The windshield is specifically designed to withstand an impact without breaking and giving protection to the occupants inside the vehicle. The two different types of glass for windshields are laminated glass and tempered glass.

The windshield glass is different from ordinary glass and is specifically designed for automobiles. The windscreen glass is manufactured in a special way that supports the structure of a vehicle using different types of safety glass. Safety glass is used in the manufacture of all automotive glass because it reduces the likelihood of injury if the glass is broken.

The two different types of glass used in manufacturing windshields are laminated glass and tempered glass. The windshield glass itself is made of laminated glass. In 1927 the automobile industry began using laminated glass by adopting two pieces of glass and gluing them with a piece of transparent plastic material called polyvinyl butyric (PVB). The plastic and two sheets of glass are infused by heat and extreme pressure.

This process prevents the windshield glass from breaking into pieces during a collision. The windshield is specifically designed to withstand an impact without breaking and giving protection to the occupants inside the vehicle. If occupants of the vehicle are not wearing their seat belts and are thrown directly onto the windscreen during an accident, the vinyl layer acts as a buffer for the occupant. Since windshields are usually not broken, fragments stick to plastic walls,

Car glasses

Laminated glass is mainly used in a car where possibly the human impact may occur. It is sometimes used on the side windows and the rear windows of the vehicle. Laminated glass can be used even in the windows of homes located in certain geographical areas where hurricanes are frequent.

Rapid heating and cooling methods are used for the manufacture of tempered glass. In the event of an accident, or when the stability of the glass is compromised by being hit with an object, the tempered glass will not break. Tempered glass can be used for a large number of things besides the windows of a car. Different examples include phone booths, an outdoor kitchen, baking trays, polarized sunglasses, and some screens of cell phones.

Due to the specific process of making tempered glass, it is harder and stronger than ordinary glass of the same thickness. Tempered glass cannot be repaired, which is why when a car window is damaged, it must be replaced by a new one.
